Famous Nigerian celebrities, especially in the entertainment industry, are not only known for their talents as some have had to deal with failed marriages, separation and divorce this year.
Some of these celebrities find it difficult to keep their marriage. However, some attribute it to marrying at a tender age while some attribute it to infidelity, but the reason why most of these marriages failed is yet to be publicly disclosed.

1. Kunle Iyiola Afod
Famous Nollywood (Yoruba) actor, and movie director, Kunle Iyiola Afod and his wife, Desola Afod who got married in 2003 are officially separated as the news was made public by the intended ex-wife.
Desola announced their separation on her Instagram page on Tuesday, 25 October 2022 as she took steps in deleting pictures of them from her page.
She described their separation as good news as she wrote, ”The good news you wanna hear, I left Kunle Afod.”
This happened as a result of the actor’s act of disrespect to his wife by travelling to the United States of America to see his baby mama and going on to post pictures of them together online.
2. Gideon Okeke
Famous Nollywood actor Gideon Okeke who got married to his wife, Chidera Uduezue in 2018, confirms their separation on his Instagram story on Sunday 23 October 2022.
The reason for their separation was not made known, as his wife made the decision for both parties to separate.
The actor’s post read in part, “You wouldn’t believe it if I told you that I’m separated from my marriage right? It is in the interest of clarity and a clear conscience that this becomes imperative.”
3. Funke Akindele
Popular Nollywood actor and filmmaker Funke Akindele a.k.a Jenifa who, is also contesting for the post of deputy governor in the forthcoming general election in Nigeria.
The actress Funke Akindele got married to filmmaker and director Abdulrasheed Bello, a.k.a JJC Skillz, in May 2016.
However, around June 2022, her husband publicly announced their separation on his Instagram page, stating that the marriage was “beyond repair”.
4. Chacha Eke
Nollywood actress Chacha Eke who got married to the movie director Austin Fulani announced their divorce agreement in June 2022.
News has it that this is the second time they ended their union as couple.
Her post clearly states in part; “I don’t want to ‘die’ or go inexplicably ‘missing’. For the second time in two years, I am here again on social media boldly declaring that I am done with my marriage”.
5. Yewande Adekoya
Nollywood actress and filmmaker Yewande Adekoya was married to actor Abiodun Ishola Thomas in 2013 for 8years. Altogether, they’ve been together for 13years; courtship and marriage inclusive.
Unfortunately, they separated in April 2022.
The actress announced their separation on her social media page, stating that she has been experiencing unfaithfulness and emotional abuse for these 13years of being together.
6. Korra Obidi
Talented Nigerian dancer, musician and model Korra Obidi got married to an American chiropractor, Dr Justin Dean in 2018.
However, their marriage only lasted for four years as Korra’s husband, Dean, ended the marriage in March 2022, as he publicly made it known. Dean clearly stated that Korra abused him emotionally and the children verbally.
Dean said: “Many of you know I divorced Korra because we got into an argument, and Korra says things to hurt me sometimes and she repeatedly told me that she regretted that June (their first daughter) ever been born.”
7. Nkechi Blessing
Famous Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing got married to a rich businessman and politician from Ekiti state, Opeyemi Falegun, in 2020.
However, their marriage crashed in April 2022, as her ex-husband announced their split on his Instagram live. He disclosed that he does not want to be associated with Nkechi Blessing, who he alleged is a lesbian. According to him, he is no longer her husband and wants to protect his name.
Falegan said: “I don’t want to be known for any notoriety or anything controversial.
The actress, Nkechi Blessing, addressed his statement on her Instagram page, confirming their separation. She warned that anyone who is with him should be ready to feed him.
