It’s been a long time coming for fans of Manchester United, as it’s now certain that the sacking of the club’s coach has been made official. The Red Devils have suffered in their stint with Ole Gunnar Solksjaer whose performance in recent times, has been nothing close to expected.

The Norwegian has been under intense pressure in a couple of weeks, having been humiliated by Liverpool and Man City in “5-0” and “2-0” defeats respectively.  Having poor formations and wrong selection of players seems to be the complaint of many United fans.

Playing Man. City at Old Trafford was a very humiliating game that could have ended in more loss than was seen, if not for the bravery of their goalkeeper De Gea. It was annoying seeing the five-time ballon d’or winner – Cristiano Ronaldo – struggle with the ball. The ball possession of Man. United players were extremely poor, compared to that of Man. City Players.

In recent times, the matches under Solksjaer have bought a lot of dressing room quarrels amongst players.

The most humiliating was the most recent 4-1 defeat they received from Watford on 20th November. This got more fans clamouring for the sack of the coach, while those who hated the progress of the club kept being of the opinion that the coach should be given more time.

Among the several comments online, a certain Charles Ihemadu, in what seemed to be a mocking and funny post, made it known that it’s unfair to see fans yearn for the sack of their coach. “See how they kept pushing for someone’s father to lose his job,” was one of the lines in his post.

A Man United fan replied by suggesting his children be told that their father doesn’t know his work.

The News have it that Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers, and former Real Madrid chief Zinedine Zidane, are amongst the leading contenders to replace Solskjaer.

But will his replacement solve the issue? Some pundits are of the opinion that a new coach wouldn’t change anything, but I think they’re not well-informed. Anyone observant in the wave of club successes will understand what happened when Tuchel became Chelsea coach. The club had wonderful players who were languishing in poor performance, because of the methods of their then coach, Lampard. Tuchel pulled an incredible stunt of winning the Champions League with them.

It is safe to say that Man United will rise from their slumber when they sign the right coach?

Yes, sacking Solksjaer could solve their problems.
