The dutchess of Success, Meghan and Prince Harry have quite a lot going on at the moment, what with their first baby due in a matter of weeks and a house move to navigate in amongst all of that. But apparently, things are about to get trickier for the parents-to-be, as their relocation to Frogmore Cottage in Windsor is having to be delayed.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were apparently due to move from Nottingham Cottage in the grounds of Kensington Palace to their new home in Windsor this week, giving them time to settle in before the arrival of the baby in late next month. But workmen are still on site, with building work looking likely to take three or four weeks longer than expected.

If that’s the case, it means Meghan and Harry won’t get into their new house until just a week or so before Meghan gives birth.

A royal source speaking to The Sun said: “It’s been all hands to the pump. The builders have worked all week whatever the weather. But they keep making changes, particularly on the layout.”

To say the renovation work on Frogmore Cottage has been a big job would be an understatement. Previously divided up into apartments for staff, the property has been turned back into a five en-suite bedroom house for Meghan and Harry’s growing family. The ‘cottage’ will feature a yoga studio with a special floor, “an elaborate Gone With The Wind-style double staircase” to replace “the hotchpotch of stairs crisscrossing the interior,” and new grand fireplaces in “principal rooms.”

The walls are being decorated with vegan paint, the house will be run on a green energy unit to ensure it’s sustainable, and “Fort Knox” levels of security is being put in place to protect the royals’ privacy. So all very low key, as you can imagine.

Meghan has now stopped making public appearances as she enters the initial phase of winding down for maternity leave. We’re excited and can’t wait to meet the royal baby.
