Aboy, Adeoye Fawaz, who lives under Oshodi bridge and does bus conducting for a living has bagged a trophy as a chess champion.

According to sources Tunde Onakoya, the CEO of Chess in Slum Africa, an organization that has used the game of chess to give new meanings to many lives, introduced Adeoye Fawaz to the game has since then been sharing the glory with him.

Many months ago, Tunde’s encounter with a boy with cerebral palsy captured media attention.

The 18-year-old chess champion, Adeoye Fawaz, who was mostly ridiculed by his peers because of his medical condition became the happiness of his community. His dexterity at the chess games earned him the rapt attention of Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Fawaz’s life has since then met a turnaround and became the cornerstone that was rejected by the builders in his family.

According to a LinkedIn post by Abubakar B, it was disclosed that Fawaz came out as a winner among his contemporaries in a competition prepared by the NGO.

Pictures posted online showed the champion in native attire, screaming with a trophy in his hand and medals on his neck.

One of the shots posted online before showed Fawaz before his life changed. His chest bones were countable due to no good food.
