The official Nigeria Independence Fashion Show UK takes place in London on Saturday 1st October 2016 and it will not be like any other fashion showcase you’ve seen before. 10 designers and amazing models are working to put on the fashion showcase of the year by bringing the “Lasgidi” vibe to the runway with theatrics, music and dance.
One exclusive Nigerian designer from America who will be showcasing is Chinasa Nwokocha, the founder of Ataria NYC. Formerly known as “Emoji Express”, Ataria NYC was founded in 2014 and has had it’s customer base extended from America to Europe to Africa. You will fall in love with the luxury and unique garments that blends African, Asian and European styles.
As well as the exciting catwalk, and VIP goodies served by VMA events and TemiTysKitchen, headlining the show with a superb performance, is the UK’s favourite, Nkay. Well known for her ‘Mr Maga’ tune and distinctive melodious voice, the 22 year old definitely adds some spice to this year’s show!
Some very special guests will be in attendance to receive special recognition awards; categories include Outstanding Contribution to Fashion, Outstanding Contribution to Music, Young Entrepreneur of the year and UK Nigerian Community Leader 2016. Nigeria Independence Day would not be complete without celebrating the achievements of the country and discussing improvements.
An evening to shop, eat, watch a great fashion show and support the development of Nwannediya Health Centre, which will be one of the most technologically advanced health centres in Nigeria (Abia State). NIFS UK Founder is very passionate about this project and emphasising the need for a better healthcare facility in Ohafia and truly putting Abia State on the map as a reputable place in Nigeria.
