Nollywood Cinematographer, Yinka Edward Wins BAFTA Award!

Nigerian cinematographer, Yinka Edward won a BAFTA award for ‘A Love Story’, an animated short film which he worked on as co-director of photography. Yinka Edward’s career as a cinematographer spans over a decade. He has collaborated with Kunle Afolayan more than once, The Figurine, Phone Swap and the recent October 1st.

Yinka worked on Mak ‘Kusare’s “90 Degrees” (winner, Best Feature Film, Zuma International Film Festival) and “Comrade”. In 2007 he joined the team of BBC’s acclaimed series “Wetin Dey”, then headed to Namibia to shoot the country’s first indigenous TV series “The Ties That Bind”.

He has collaborated with Kunle Afolayan more than once, first in 2009, as Director of Photography for the award-winning feature, “The Figurine”, which was awarded the 2010 AMAA (African Movie Academy Award) for cinematography. And again in 2011 as Director of Photography on Kunle Afolayan’s “Phone Swap”. In 2011, Yinka worked on the German/Kenyan production, Something Necessary as Director of Photography. In 2012, he completed production on a feature-length drama-thriller based on the Nigerian 1976 assassination of Gen Murtala Muhammed.
