Nollywood Studies around Universities

Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, USA throws its academic searchlight on Nollywood.  The “Africana Film Series” features works from some popular great African directors. The series will begin on February 11th with a screening  Multi Award winning producer, Obi Emelonye’sThe Mirror Boy” at the University Museum.

Sponsored by the Global Media Research Center and University Museum, in partnership with Africana Studies, Anthropology, Black Resource Center, and Radio, Television, and Digital Media departments. The film series is part of the university’s Black History Month observance.

Other films scheduled for studies includes;

“Keita: Heritage of the Griot,” by Dani Kouyate (February 18th )

 “The Figurine (Araromire),” by Kunle Afolayan (March 10th) 

“Karmen Gei,” by Joesph Gai Ramaka (April 14 th)

”Yeelen,” by Souleymane Cissé (May 12th)

 

All of the films will be free, and open to the public.
