Owned by Unilever, popular International brand Dove gets customers angry over racist ad campaign. The company has since then apologized for the ad campaign dubbed racist by viewers.nReleased on Saturday afternoon, the picture ad showed 4 pictures, two of a smiling black woman pulling her t-shirt over her head and the other two is a white woman apparently after taking off the t-shirt, a bottle of Dove body wash displayed in the corner, thus results.

In the Facebook ad, A black woman becomes  white after using the brand’s lotion. This was heavily criticized by viewers after it was posted on social site.

The 60 years of real beauty brand  quickly pulled the ad and issued a statement via their Facebook page saying.

“Dove is committed to representing the beauty of diversity. In an image we posted this week, we missed the mark in thoughtfully representing women of colour and we deeply regret the offense that it has caused. The feedback that has been shared is important to us and we’ll use it to guide us in the future”.

However, the apology though was not accepted by majority  of people, the ad was deemed as very offensive.

Many asked how an ad so racist was approved by the brand’s marketing team. Below are other comments from angry customers

“Those who don’t learn from history are doomed to repeat it…I mean…gosh, if only there were some clues in history that might help you recognize a bad idea when you see it”.

“ Dove can’t wash this offense away either. Stop using their products. Don’t be angry with them for showing us who they are. Just simply shut them down.”

“Ditch the dove. African black soap is where it’s at if you really want your skin to be clean and have a radiant glow 💁🏾‍♀️.”

“You didn’t miss the mark you did exactly what u set out to do which is to try and capitalize on the race war that’s going on. I grew up in a Dove household and giving these products to my friends and family… I feel bamboozled. No worries. I threw all my dove away and bought #Nivea

“You regret the offense it has caused, but don’t regret making the ad, uploading it, and posting it? Do you not regret being offensive? You’re disgusting. Too little, too late. Your lack of accountability is sickening. With marketing like this, you’ll have no future. I guess it’s only “real beauty” when white people are concerned, or at least not with black people. This is blatant racism. Despicable. I’m glad I don’t use your carcinogenic soap, shampoos, or lotions and I will be sure to tell my grandma and everyone else I know not to, either.”.

And these are just few of the comments.
