Grand actor, Richard Mofe Damijo, Olu Jacobs and his wife, Joke Silva were honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Awards at Africa Movie Academy Awards 2016 (AMAA) which took place on Saturday the 12th of June in Porth Harcourt Nigeria.
Both legends of the Nigerian film industry, popularly known as Nollywood, Olu Jacobs, Joke Silva as well as Richard Mofe Damijo and Tony Akposhore were presented with the AMAA Lifetime Achievement Awards for their immense contributions to the growth of the African film industry.
In the competitive awards, Nigeria picked 10 out of the 24 awards on the night. South Africa were the next big winners with 5. Burkina Faso picked 4 whiles Ghana won 3.
Ghana picked the three awards with the British film, The Cursed Ones filmed in the Eastern region of Ghana. The movie won the Best in Production Design award, the Cinematography nod won by Nicholas K. Leroy and the Best Director, won by Nana Obiri Yeboah.
The event was hosted by the Dr Obi Wali International Conference Centre in Port Harcourt, Rivers State under the tutelage of Governor Nyesome Wike.
The awards night was hosted by Nigeria’s Mike Ezuruonye and Kgopedi Lilokoe from South Africa.
