The CPDM Chairman, Paul Biya, 85, announces he will represent the party in the upcoming Presidential election this October. This will be his 7th term in office in office if he succeeds.
The popular Cameroon president came to power in 1982 when his predecessor retired. He has been in office for 36 years. He announced his intention to seek another via his official twitter handle and it said.

Aware of the challenges we must take up together
to ensure a more united, stable & prosperous Cameroon,
I am willing to respond positively to your overwhelming calls.

The presidential election will hold on October 7th. Despite the state of the nation, he still wants to carry on as the president.
