Award-winning Afrobeats singer Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, has made Nigerians proud as he gets inducted into the Guinness World Book of Records.

The 23-year-old music star achieved the feat with his global hit song “Calm Down,” which made history as the first No. 1 hit on the Official MENA Chart (the world’s first regional streaming chart).

Recall that it was reported weeks ago that Rema’s “Calm Down” had hit 1 billion streams on Spotify.

The hit song, which continues to pave the way for Rema, has gotten him recognition in the Guinness World Book of Records.

The Benin-born singer has been recognized for achieving the historic feat in a statement on its website recently.

According to the statement, Rema was being recognized for securing the first number 1 hit on the world’s first regional streaming chart and the first-ever official chart in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).

He now joins Femi Kuti and Wizkid as Nigerian musicians with Guinness World Records.

Excitement as international footballers recognize singer Rema

Just weeks ago, Rema was recognized by two of football’s biggest players, Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar.

Cristiano Ronaldo took many by surprise as he shared a video of three of his kids dancing to Rema’s song, Calm Down.

The record-breaking footballer shared the video with his 555 million followers via his Instagram story.

Neymar had also taken to his social media page to share a video of him vibing to the singer’s song as he revealed that he was still in recovery.

An excited Rema had taken to his Instagram page to repost Cristiano Ronaldo’s story.

Rema reacts as Barack Obama includes him in the 2022 music playlist.

To add to it, last year, Barack Obama included Rema on his playlist.

Every year, the former president always shares his favourite playlist of the year. While American artists always top his music playlist, the former president is still fond of African music, especially Nigerian music.

Three songs from Nigerian stars—Burna Boy, Rema, and Ayra Starr—made it to his favourite music of 2022. Obama listed 25 songs as his favourites for the year, and Burna Boy’s Last Last, Ayra’s Rush, and Rema’s Calm Down made the list from Nigeria.
