When you’re owing many debts, and a stranger presents you with an opportunity of just playing a game that could make you very rich, will you take it; or will you continue trying to survive, even when you’ve signed to give up your organ as payment, should you default in paying your lenders on an agreed date?
Big praise for Hwang Dong-hyuk, as he brings another attention to the South Korean film industry with his classic work “Squid Game.” He wrote and directed it.
Squid Game is the series you should be seeing right now, and make sure there’s no food on fire while doing so. It’s hard for Rotten Tomatoes to give a movie or TV Series 100/100 rating, but it was easy for this work of art.

I’ve always admired South Korean script writers, but first took interest in Hwang Dong-hyuk after seeing what he did in “The Fortress” and “Silenced.” Seeing that he has a new movie, I didn’t delay in seeing Squid Game about two weeks ago.
The Series is a wonderful thriller that will test your adrenalin, for it can also be called a “classic” horror movie.
Seong Gi-hun, played by Lee Jung-jae, is a diver who’s also a gambling addict. At his age, he lives with his mother. Having problems with his wife whom, after their divorce, is trying to make it difficult for him to see his daughter – she was trying to relocate to America with their daughter and her new husband.
Realizing he could get custody of their child if he makes enough money to increase the little support he gives his daughter, he was now subjected to the lane of confusion where he would have to decide which was more important:
Paying off debts, or trying to get back his daughter?
At this same period, a man meets him in a subway station, and challenges him to a simple game of cards, which would get him some reasonable money, should he win. After a back and fort in the game, Gi-hun won some money. This lured him into accepting an invitation to play a bigger game that was meant to change his life. Little did he know that the nature of the game, was equivalent to taking a stroll along the streets of hell.
There, he encountered other participants like:
“Park Hae-soo as Cho Sang-woo (218), the head of the investment team at a securities company, he is a junior to Gi-hun and was a gifted student who studied at Seoul National University but is now wanted by the police for stealing money from his clients.
Jung Ho-yeon as Kang Sae-byeok (067), a North Korean defector who enters the Game to pay for a broker to find and retrieve her surviving family members who are still across the border.
O Yeong-su as Oh Il-nam (001), an elderly man with a brain tumor who prefers playing the Game as opposed to waiting to die in the outside world.
Heo Sung-tae as Jang Deok-su (101), a gangster who enters the Game to settle his massive gambling debts.” – Wikipedia
He was no 456 in this game that was to be the greatest regret of anyone who would come out of it, alive.
