THE CAST PROFILE
The play METAMORPHOSIS (oluwa o!) is an Adaptation of Franz kafka’s book whose original was written over 100 years ago. It is about A man who wakes up one night and his body has become and insect (locust), his boss, mom and best friend all gathered round him and try to understand this disease.
But Nick Adaptation of the play was with a twist, he changed the characters sex around by making the characters all female instead of all male as it was in the book. He added his own twist to it and made it more his story telling and this was inspired by his personal experience to a similar situation and how people/ family/friends all react when a close one is sick/ has mental illness or possessed, everyone has their different take on it and different ways of dealing with it.
THE STAGE SET
The play was recreated with an African setting. It is About a Girl called ABENI who is a commercial sales traveller. Her work stress was getting to her such as sales, travel, workload and her dad whom she can never relate to. So one night she woke up only to see she has become an insect (A human locust).
Her mother (YETUNDE) whom she lives with, her best friend (ABEFE) and her boss (AYO) were all present during this time of her sickness. She was somewhat seen as a witch, monster, has disabilities and all sort but this was hard for them to deal with or understand. They all have their different ways of dealing with it and opinions of what should be done.
Months passed and ABENI was still in a locust form and had turned into a revolting monster. she suffered for a long time and tried to reach out to her loved ones but she couldnt. this was all geting too much for them to deal with and finally after all the suffering, she died and everybody moved on.
This is what ABENI work Ethics and all the stress she put herself through have done to her .

ADM: We saw this play on stage and it was brilliant. it is a great METAPHORIC play and was acted perfectly by the cast. The staging, Acting, lighting, sound and of course directing was all to perfection. and this is a MUST WATCH! for everyone and it needs to be on a greater scale in a Big screen.
