Nollywood actress Cynthia Okereke has sadly passed on to the great beyond. Vanguard reported that Mr Emma Onyemeziem, Chairman, Actors Guild of Nigeria, Delta State chapter, confirmed the news and said Okereke passed away on June 13th 2023, after a brief illness at 63. Mr Ene Brown also confirmed the sad news, saying the veteran actress had suffered from High Blood Pressure and diabetes after her adoption in Enugu in July of 2022 while returning from a movie location at Ozilla town in Enugu state.
Even though she was later released unhurt by the abductors, who cleared every penny in her bank account, it looks like the shock, anxiety and trauma that followed eventually deteriorated her health. Many believed that the actress rarely overcame the traumatic experience. Okereke’s sudden demise is the latest in the movie industry that has seen some of its big stars passing on to the great beyond. Saint Obi, Don Brymo, Murphy Afolabi, Femi Ogunrobi (Papa Ajasco) and Chikezie Uwazie are some of the recently passed high-profile names.
