THE WORLD STOOD STILL FOR ONE MAN!

NELSON MANDELA

(1918 – 2013)

Our Loss! Heavens Gain! Age 95

I remember the first time i heard about Nelson Mandela. It was in a history class while in secondary school, I found this character not only brave and passionate about his country, he was extremely handsome. I did something i have never done before, i researched and read about him, also watched his historic movies. I fell in love with him, not only for being an African hero, but for teaching and setting an example for all of us to follow.

Nelson Mandela is one of the most famous and greatest people on earth, his death went viral within minutes of announcement by Jacob Gedleyihlekisa Zuma the current president of South Africa. It wasn’t a shock beacuase he has been very poorly for the past three months, with the medias updating us about his progress, he is a very strong man to carry on until now, people thought. His is a man admired by old and young, rich and poor, famous and non-famous. He death turned a global mourn. Presidents and leaders of states took their time this morning to announce and give an emotional speech about this great hero. Most African countries are doing more to mark his death. Social websites have been going crazy with everyone experessing their feelings since the proclaim of his death.

It is so sad to see a great hero gone. “The world has indeed lost a great man”, said Barak Obama, president of America. His burial date has already been set for Sunday December 15 at his rural home in Qunu, while a memorial service in a Johannesburg stadium will be held on Tuesday, Dec 10th.

His early days:

Some of his favourite quots:

Fare well our HERO!, Rest in peace our HERO!
