If you are one of those people who believed the many conspiracy theories that Bola Ahmed Tinubu will never be installed as the president of Nigeria. Well, we are here to wake you up from that dream. The renowned Kingmaker has now officially been transformed into a king. Following a heavy downpour on May 29 of 2023 that either signifies a new dawn or the heavens weeping, the 71-year-old political godfather was sworn in as the new president of Africa’s largest democracy during an open-air inauguration ceremony at Eagles Square, Abuja.

While former president Buhari departed to Daura, his rural home in northern Katsina state, the former Governor of Lagos State took the oath of office as the 16th President of Nigeria alongside his Vice President, Kashim Shettima. A viral video on social media captured fleets of expensive private planes arriving at Abuja International Airport for Tinubu’s inauguration. Dignitaries and powerful men from all over the country and the world all converged en masse to the nation’s capital to witness the inauguration ceremony. Ahead of his inauguration, President Tinubu threw a massive free musical concert, tagged Renewed Hope Concert, to appreciate those who campaigned for and voted for him.

Hosted by Seyilaw, one of Asiwaju’s Boys, the concert was held at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja and featured eclectic performances from top artists, including Pasuma, Naira Marley, Young Jon, Wande Coal, Waje, Skales, Iyanya, Chuddy K, Konga, Praiz, Fati Niger Artquake, Kcee, Fireboy DML, Asake, Zinoleesky, Qdot, BNXN, Seyi Vibez, among others. This concert was followed by an inauguration dinner attended by the outgoing president and Vice President alongside notable world leaders, including the Presidents of South Africa, Sierra Leone, Ghana, Burundi, Liberia, the Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Central African Republic, Gabon, the Prime Minister of Morocco, the Vice President of Venezuela, and many others. During the dinner, an elated Tinubu vowed among other things to fulfil all his campaign promises to Nigerians. “We acknowledge the need to combat corruption, poverty, policy inconsistencies, and other issues that plague us.

However, I do not seek pity; I willingly took up this role, campaigned for it, and I assure you that I’ll do my obligations without any excuses,” Tinubu said. What are these promises? Will Tinubu fulfil them as promised? Or are we gearing up for another failed governance and continuation of the Buhari regime? #presidenttinubu #bolatinubu #bolaahmedtinubu
