Just like many people, the reality tv star left his home on Tuesday, October 11, 2022, to attend to his business as usual. Unfortunately for the upcoming singer, he never made it home. The 29-year-old actor was involved in a ghastly car accident with an 18-seater bus around Abraham Adesanya roundabout, Lekki-Epe Expressway. Thanks to kind Nigerians, an unconscious Rico was immediately dragged out of his white car and rushed to a nearby hospital. Sadly, he was rejected and referred to the Lagos State Teaching Hospital, where he was placed on life-support. Alex Unusual, his close friend and co-housemate on the Double Wahala edition of the BBNaija show, broke the unfortunate news to fans in the late hours of Tuesday. In a tweet, Alex begged fans to pray for the singer as the doctors tried to resuscitate him. He later started a fundraising campaign alongside Tobi Bakre to cover his increasing medical bills. As of the early hours of Wednesday, they had raised over 800 thousand Naira for the comatose singer on life support.
Trending the hashtag #PrayForRicoSwavey, Alex also started a Twitter space where thousands of Nigerians prayed for the singer’s recovery. Unfortunately, Rico Swavey didn’t make it. The singer passed away before noon on October 13 2022, causing the Nigerian entertainment Industry and thousands of fans to go into mourning. Days before his passing, the Rapper was so full of life that he shared this video of his Friday mood. He wrote, “Being a true gentleman never goes out of fashion.” Rico had also called out Instablog for not sharing the song of the late singer Chop Boi until he kicked the bucket. If only the 29-year-old Rapper knew that would be his fate the days after.
