One of the biggest social media giants, Twitter is advising all its 330 million users to change their passwords with immediate effect.
The company announced this on Thursday, May 3rd, 2018. Explaining that they recently discovered a bug that stored passwords in an internal log in an unprotected form.
Twitter says there’s no indication that there was a breach or that any of the passwords were misused. But as a precaution, Twitter recommends users consider changing the passwords they use to log onto Twitter.
The social media giant also asks users to change their password if they used it for any other services.
Twitter says it discovered the bug on its own and has since then fixed it but precautions need to be taken by users.
