Popular Nigerian singer, Kizz Daniel who was scheduled to perform at the Warehouse, Old Nextdoor Arena in Tanzania on Sunday, August 7, 2022; failed to show up for the program and was later apprehended by the Tanzanian police.

The arrest was prompted after the show promoter, Stephen Uwa, claimed to have paid $60,000 to the singer as well as pleading with him, but all efforts to bring him down to the venue proved abortive.

Kizz Daniel was released days later, and he immediately tendered a public apology to his fans, promising them a free show in the country later in the year.
His apologetic posts, however, were faced with mixed opinions from diverse fans who saw his actions from different perspectives. At present, over 30,000 tweets have been made concerning the incident.

Some of his fans have been sympathetic towards his claims, as a fan @PoojaMedia tweeted;

“Kizz Daniel knew he was wrong, apologized & promised a free show in Tanzania by working with former show organizers. To all the people that said we should wait for his side of the story, his side don comot. Well done Kizz.”

However, some other fans saw the singer’s post as merely a means of self-justification. The owner of a microblogging site, @ObongRoviel tweeted saying;

“None of Kizz Daniel’s excuses would make sense to me tbh. Davido will perform in two countries in a day and still rush back to Osun state, enter Okada and shout Imole everywhere.”
