The unnamed man, believed to be in his 60s, was pulled from the water at Danson Park in Welling, south east London and was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead, the Met Police said.
In a statement, London police said: ‘Police were called by the London Ambulance Service at approximately 3.55pm on Wednesday, 28 February to reports of a man in the water at Danson Park in Bexleyheath. Officers and London’s Air Ambulance attended.
‘The man, believed to be aged in his 60s, was recovered from the water and taken to a south London hospital where he died. His next of kin are aware. The death is being treated unexplained.’ He added. The dog was rescued by boat.
London Ambulance Service also reported that a young boy had a lucky escape when he was rescued from a frozen lake in Essex on Wednesday afternoon after heavily snowing the night before.
Firefighters said the boy tried to run to the middle of the lake at Laindon near Basildon but got trapped when the ice broke up. He was said to have been cold but otherwise unhurt.
