Veteran Nollyood actress Victoria Inyama has weighed in her opinion on the issue of rape and sexual molestation in Nigeria.
Victoria Inyama believes that indecent dressing acts as ‘the trigger’ for those liable to commit rape offenses and has pleaded with ladies to be wary of the kind of dress they wear.
The veteran movie star issued the plea in a video shared via her Instagram page on Friday, July 31, 2020, while speaking on government’s failure to come up with a definite punishment to rape and sexual harassment offenses in the country.
According to the mother of three, females who have come of age should learn to dress appropriately so as to reduce the risk of getting raped or sexually molested.
She also called on ladies not to conform to the believe that indecent dressing is not one of the lead causes of rape.
she wrote:
“It’s obvious to me that the Nigerian government is not really ready to put a fixed penalty to Rape and so l beg my ladies (minus the minors or aged victims) to plsssss dress in appropriate clothing so as to reduce the trigger for the perpetrators. A lot of these Perpetrators have underlying mental health issues & being around them in certain clothing is a trigger…..sadly the victim still gets to be shamed & ridiculed, so since this government is NOT ready to do much, it would be wise to safeguard yourself.
“Yes it’s not about the dressing some will say & compare with Europe & America but remember they take Rape cases seriously unlike Nigerian. Think about it.”
