The mother of a London schoolboy accuses the school of religious discrimination after they ordered her son to cut off his dreadlocks. The mum who explained that she tied up her 12-year old’s  dreadlocks to a tidy and neat bond so that it doesn’t breach the Fulham Boys School policy, however, received a call from the West London school saying that the boy ‘Chikayzea’s’ hair must be cut.

‘The school cannot expect me to cut my son’s hair as it is my families faith, religion and culture’. She said.

She also added that she already had a meeting with the head teacher of the school in hope of trying to come to some conclusion but claimed she was told the school had ‘a policy of no dreadlocks’ among pupils.

She added, ‘It is my belief, my family’s belief. We have been Rastafarians for 30 to 40 years, No school should e able to dictate things like that, It can never be right, is a human right.

The headmaster of the school, Alan Ebenezer said that boys cannot have hair longer than their collar or shorter than a number two and they cannot have dreadlocks or braids either, this is stated on their website for everyone to see. He added that because the school is so strict, this is why they’re oversubscribed. He also said that they’re treating the case as a cultural issue and they are taking advice about it.
