What is Autoimmune disease and how do find out if you have it? Read British actress Verno Rose‘s story as she reveals what she has been going through over the past four years and how to overcome it.

“I got diagnosed with an autoimmune disease called Hashimoto’s around 4 years ago which has meant I have had to take medication every day since. Although I was initially in denial(like most) and refused to take the medication, with a firm warning from my doctor and fear of falling into a coma if left unmedicated I started taking the meds but still have never felt 100% well. The illness means your body has difficulty processing your food and turning it into fuel for your body. A few of the symptoms include Chronic fatigue, hair loss, weight gain, extreme weakness, heart palpitations, constant shortness of breath, aches and pains,(walking less than two minutes would feel like a workout and leave me feeling lightheaded and dizzy) forgetfulness plus more.

Mid lockdown I found myself bed-bound for around 7 days. I had chest pains, body aches, and just found it difficult staying awake; all symptoms of hashimoto’s.

Anyhow! I broke down as I couldn’t take going into my 40’s and beyond feeling so much older than my age and I decided enough was enough. I have done some more research on the Autoimmune protocol diet. I had looked into it a number of times but decided against it as it’s so restrictive.

I am now on around day 70 and feel like my old self it’s wonderful! Feel like I’m in my 20s again plus I have lost weight something I haven’t been able to do for years.
I normally get my blood tested every month or so. The last time I went my antibodies were off the chart and unable to be read at 3000+ I haven’t had my blood done in a while due to COVID but I am certain my results will be completely different.

I post this as if you have an autoimmune disease and are symptomatic please please start the AIP diet it’s something you have to stick to for life but I promise you its worth it”.

Her story is really amazing, and we must agree the majority of us understand where she is coming from and often feel very tired for no reason. So what is this AIP Diet Verona is talking about?

What is Autoimmune protocol diet?

According to Healthline, the AIP diet is a relatively new, food-based approach to eliminating unwanted inflammation in a person’s body. It’s a diet that’s thought to help heal your gut to reduce inflammation created by autoimmune conditions. The diet is very restrictive and mainly includes meats and vegetables. Its goal is to cut inflammation-causing foods to reset your body’s immune system. The idea is to reduce inflammation in your body and put your autoimmune condition into remission with better eating habits.

It’s often aimed at treating a “leaky gut.” It’s thought that autoimmune conditions may be caused by small holes in your intestines. These holes can allow food to be released into the rest of your body and trigger your immune system to react. By eating only foods in the AIP diet, you help heal this leaky gut.
