Renowned Nigerian singer Burna Boy has called for institutional reform within the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and a robust pay package for police officers.

The music star in a tweet shared via his Twitter page on Wednesday, October 14, 2020, said it is imperative that those charged with safeguarding the nation at grassroots level be paid handsomely.

In his post, Mr. Burna used the rank of a sergeant in the police division to highlight what he believes to be a flawed wage structure, stating it isn’t proper that occupants of such position earn 50/60 thousand naira monthly without incentives.

Inspector-General of Police Muhammad Adamu.

The Monster You Created crooner noted that as long as officers are underpaid, youths will continue to be harassed by them.

“It’s a great morning to demand institutional reform in Nigeria. No reason why a sergeant on the police force earns 50/60k ($127) a month with no benefits! .It doesn’t help our plight. .#SARSMUSTEND,” he tweeted.

Burna Boy joins the list of those who have called for the increment of police salary to prevent officers from exploiting citizens in light of the #EndSARS protest still rocking the nation.
