Ernest Shonekan, former head of the interim national government, has been laid to rest. Shonekan, who passed on January 11, was dropped in his own grave at  Lagos. Dignitaries at the state funeral which held at the Cathedral Church of Christ, Marina, included Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, governor of Lagos; Yakubu Gowon, former military head of state, and his wife, Victoria; and former President Goodluck Jonathan.

Recall that the former president of the interim government between August 26 and November 17 1993 when he was ousted in a palace coup led by late General Sani Abacha who was Secretary of Defence died of natural causes at 85 according to what the family confirmed, announced by punch

Others included Boss Mustapha, secretary to the government of the federation, as well as Dapo Abiodun, Ogun governor, and his Edo counterpart, Godwin Obaseki.
