Former Aston Villa Footballer, Jlloyd Samuel died in a car crash, age of 37

Former Aston Villa footballer Jlloyd Samuel has died at the young age of 37. The defender died in a car crash on May 15th, according to the Trinidad and Tobago Football Association.

In a Facebook post, they association wrote: “We’ve received some terrible news that former National defender and Ex-Aston Villa and Bolton Wanderers player Jlloyd Samuel died in a car crash this morning in England.

“According to reports, Jlloyd was returning home after dropping his kids off to school and collided with an oncoming vehicle. His vehicle caught fire and his body was discovered burnt. The Trinidad and Tobago Football Association and his former national teammates at this time extends deepest condolences to his family members both in the UK and here in Trinidad and Tobago

Samuel made more than 150 appearances for the club between 1998 and 2007 and he managed one call up to the England squad during his career.

After leaving Aston Villa, Samuel went on to play for Bolton Wanderers and Cardiff City. He went on to play club football in Iran.

Aston Villa tweeted this afternoon to say the team would be wearing black armbands in tribute to Samuel in their play-off semi-final at home to Middlesbrough tonight.
