Herbert Wigwe, the group chief executive officer of Access Holdings Plc, his wife and child have died after their private Chopper crashed in a fatal accident in the United States. The helicopter crashed and killed him and five others in California.
According to reports, the chopper was headed to Las Vegas when it crashed near a border city between Nevada and California on Friday, February 9th night.
The 57-year-old bank executive was on board the crashed chopper with his wife, Dame Chizoba Wigwe, and one of their son. They were headed to Las Vegas after a business meeting to watch a Super Bowl game. Abimbola Ogunbanjo, the group chairman of Nigerian Exchange Group Plc (NGX Group) was also with them.
The United States Federal Aviation Administration has affirmed that 6 people were onboard the crashed chopper, and there were no survivors recorded. However, investigations have commenced as to why the chopper crashed so suddenly, as the FAA and National Transportation Safety Board have sent investigative teams to the crash site of the Airbus H130 copter.
This is reportedly the third crash being recorded in the US this week and just 3 days after 5 marines were killed in a helicopter crash in San Diego.
