In our society, divorce to many is a terrible thing. When a woman is said to have left her husband, she becomes an item for mockery.

You’ll see certain friends dissociate themselves from her, not to mention the stigmatization of family members.

Recently, a Popular Nigerian professional dancer and instructor, Kafayat Ameh, who is well-known by the stage name ‘Kaffy Dance,’ has made it known to the public, that her marriage to her husband, Joseph Ameh has crashed.

The public became aware of this when it was revealed in her new podcast episode ‘justkaffy.’

She also said she’s single but isn’t searching.

Kaffy, in trying to end the rumours about their separation in 2021, enlightened the public on her decisions. She said she was in a bitter marriage, and that breaking up was to see both parties grow in their different career.

In her words: “I wanted to see my ex-husband in his best version, so taking a chance to break this marriage was also to see that we both grew in what we are really supposed to be. Marriage is supposed to be an alignment of destinies driving towards a place God wants for them and mine didn’t work out that way.”

    She furthered by saying this:

“Separation is not the end of life for both parties involved, in fact if you both are honest about why you have to go apart, you will realize how much better life can be. I was in a bitter place when it comes to my marriage, I was frustrated and angry but got freedom from that space and I’m in a space of healing and open to new relationships.

I look at my ex-husband now and I don’t feel a type of way, but wish him the best. I’m single and not searching”.

Some people make it back, some don’t; what is ultimate is the outcome borne out of love, rather than looking at someone as the problem, you may be the enabler of that problem.”

Peace of mind is a very underrated quality. When one begins to lose it, life becomes miserable for the person. Certain ladies leave marriages because, along the line, the union became cancer eating up their peace of mind. This is the same for men who have decided to leave their marriage.

A woman gets beaten up by her husband in such a way that she’s subjected to a near-death experience, and you expect her to stay?

Some persons enter certain marriages that were arranged under pressure, and along the line, find out that his or her partner isn’t what they want. Don’t you think they have the right to finally decide on their future?

The above instances are meant to be enough to file for divorce.

Divorce saves lives a lot, and there are lots of instances where a divorced human, ends up getting a better suitor when he or she finally remarries.

I think our society should start seeing divorce the way Kaffy saw it in her statements. Marriage shouldn’t be a do-or-die affair. Divorcees should stop being criticized or stigmatized.

Would we rather want them to stay in the union, only to end up dead due to high blood pressure?
