Ailing Nollywood actor Amaechi Muonagor has reportedly passed away.

According to reports online, the veteran, who has been battling kidney disease for months now, has passed away.

The news was made known on Twitter by one Morris Monye, who noted that despite all efforts to save his life by flying him to India for treatment, he still died.

“Deeply heartbroken by the news of Amaechi Muonagor’s passing.

He was a talented Nollywood actor whose presence on our screens was truly masterful.

We watched with concern as he battled health issues, offering whatever support we could to help him seek treatment in India.

This tragic loss highlights the need for better healthcare in our country”, he tweeted.

Africanglitz reported last year that Amaechi was battling paralysis from a stroke. In a heartbreaking video, the legendary actor was seen on the bed as he pleaded with fans and colleagues to come to his aid and narrated how his illness started.

Explaining why he kept his health challenge private, he apologized to the public as he begged for assistance.

His cousin later gave an update on his illness, disclosing that the actor is battling kidney disease, diabetes, and stroke and pleading with the public to come to his aid.

He stated that Amaechi had been undergoing weekly dialysis and physiotherapy to treat the paralysis brought on by a stroke.

Just last week, it was reported that the actor’s health had degenerated and he was in dire need of financial support to undergo a kidney transplant in India. In a video posted online, the actor pleaded for help from Nigerians to save his life. See the video here.

This is the fourth death news story that has hit Nollywood within a month. Last week, Nollywood producer and marketer Ikechukwu Nnadi, better known as Andy Best, passed on.

The Nollywood giant was confirmed dead at a private clinic in Owerri, Ini State, on Tuesday, March 19th.

The sad news was further confirmed by the convener of the Best Nollywood Awards, Seun Oloketuyi, on his Instagram page.

He announced that the top producer and marketer died after battling a prolonged ailment, and his remains had been deposited at the Aladinma Mortuary in Owerri.

In February, Yoruba actor Sisi Quadri passed away after being rushed to the hospital in his hometown of Iwo, Osun State, after suffering persistent hiccups caused by kidney-related issues. The actor was laid to rest a day later in his hometown of Iwo, Osun State.

As Sisi Quadri was laid to rest, veteran actor Mr. Ibu gave up the ghost at Evercare Hospital.

The actor, who had been battling for his life for months, kicked the bucket following a cardiac arrest. His death threw the industry into mourning, as he was the beloved of many and had made our childhood memorable.
