Several uncollected permanent voter cards have been set on fire by an unknown individual. These persons broke into the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abia State, Nigeria in the early hours of Sunday, February 3rd to set the cards on fire. This comes just days before the presidential election.
Over 15,000 uncollected PVCs were burnt as well as the register containing the number of registered voters.
The state police say investigations have commenced and the culprits will be apprehended soon.
The last day given to registered voters to collect their PVC is February 8th. The Presidential election takes place on February 16 2019.
