Exactly 2,153 people made it to the 2019 Forbes list of the World’s Billionaires and only 13 of them are black!
We’re cheering because this is an improvement compared to 2018 were only 11 black people who made the list.
Nigeria’s Aliko Dangote is still leading as the richest black person in the world today with a fortune estimated at $10.9 billion.
He’s closely followed by Nigerian oil and telecoms tycoon, Mike Adenuga.
Only 3 Black amazing and powerful women made the list. American TV mogul, Oprah Winfrey, Angolan investor Isabel Dos Santos and Nigeria’s Folorunsho Alakija.
American businessman David Stewart the owner of World Wide Technology, an IT provider, whose customers include Citi, Verizon and the federal government, joins the Black Billionaires Club with a fortune Forbes estimates at $3 billion.
Another Nigerian businessman Abdulsamad Rabiu, who made his fortune in cement, flour, edible oils and real estate, returned to the list this year after a multi-year hiatus. He last featured on the Forbes list of the World’s Billionaires in 2014.
