Renowned American singer Beyoncé has unveiled a new offical trailer for her upcoming visual album, ‘Black is King’.

Beyoncé says the visual film “re-magines the lessons of The Lion King for today’s young kings and queens in search of their own crowns.”

The film, which has been in production for over a year, follows a young king’s journey through betrayal, love, and self- identity with his ancestors guiding him along the way.

Featured in the visual are Kelly Rowland, Naomi Campbell, Lupita Nyong’o, Pharrell Williams, Jay-Z and our very own diva, Yemi Alade.

Lupita Nyong’o and Yemi Slade both features in new visual for Beyoncé’s Black is King.

“You were formed by the heat of the galaxy. What a thing to be, both unique and familiar, to be one and the same – and still unlike any other,” she says as a young boy floats in space before a bright flash reveals the superstar carrying a baby boy.

“Life is a set of choices: Lead, or be led astray,” she continues as what appear to be temptations and dangers appear. “Follow your light — or lose it.”

Beyoncé was forced to make a new visual for the highly anticipated secret project after she came under fire from black communities for the way Africa was portrayed in the previously released one. Popular Nigerian music video director, Meji Alabi, is also said to be among those who worked on the new project.

‘Black Is King’ will stream exclusively Disney on July 31, two weeks after the one-year anniversary of Disney’s The Lion King.
