Hollwyood hunk, Idris Elba, 43, and admired Nigerian British star, David Oyelowo, 39 were invited to Queen Elizabeth’s New Year’s Honors event and both received OBEs for their services on the big screen and Entertainment industry.
“Awards and honors come in all shapes and sizes and all as significant as the other. But this is beyond special as it comes from Queen and country, and I couldn’t be more proud for receiving this right now. What a year. On me head son!” said Idris Elba during his speech.
“That production set me on the path to becoming an actor. To be honoured by the Queen in this way having been aided by her son’s charity feels like a beautiful full-circle moment.’ Said David Oyelowo.
Elba posted a screen grab of the corresponding article on his Instagram page, writing: ‘Always Keep Smiling!! It takes no energy and never hurts! Learned that from the Street!! #septemberstillloveyou’
While Oyelowo may be one of Hollywood’s leading talents, he began in the UK, performing in theatre before landing a part in TV spy drama, Spooks.
