President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday, December 1, departed Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city to Dubai for an exposition taking place in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). A statement signed by Femi Adesina, the special adviser to the president on media and seen by Legit.ng said the president is expected to tour the Nigerian pavilion at the EXPO 2020 in Dubai on Friday, December 3.
The EXPO 2020 Dubai themed, “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future”, seeks to create an environment to join over 190 countries to cement meaningful partnerships for building a better future.
Adesina also said the expo will create opportunities for the delegation from Nigeria to showcase some of the significant achievements by the administration in the past six years.
He said such an opportunity would help the country strategise itself as an important destination for foreign direct investments. Other activities which the president would be engaged in during his stay in the UAE include receiving in audience prospective investors as well as meet with His Highness, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of the Emirate of Dubai. Adesina said aside from these activities, the president would also serve as the guest of honour at the special trade and investment forum on Saturday, December 4.
He said the forum has been put together to mark Nigeria’s presence at the gathering by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment. The president’s entourage will include but not be limited to the ministers of foreign affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama; trade and investment, Otunba Adeniyi Adebayo; finance, budget and national planning, Zainab Ahmed; defence, Major General Bashir Magashi (retd); aviation, Hadi Sirika; and agriculture and rural development, Mohammad Abubakar among many others. Adesina said the president is expected back in Abuja on Sunday, December 5, 2021.
