The song is titled after the date of the unfortunate incident at Lekki Tollgate.
Nigerian singer Burna Boy has recorded a new single titled ‘20-10-20” – a song that tells the story of the dark event which took place on October 20, 2020, at the Lekki toll gate.
On that fateful date, demonstrators who congregated at the popular venue to call for an end to police brutality were shot at by suspected members of the Nigerian military while reciting the country’s national anthem. As much as 10 Nigerians lost their lives in the tragic incident that has come to be known as the Lekki Massacre.
In ’20-10-20′, Burna Boy crystallize the heartbreak and grief of millions of Nigerian youths as well as criticizing those within the government who ordered the Lekki Massacre much like the legendary Fela.

He also revealed that: “The proceeds of this song will be used to support families of victims and people suffering affliction as a result of the Lekki shootings. May the heavens open and celebrate all our fallen heroes who have died for this movement from the very beginning. Rest In peace to all the beautiful lives lost.”
