All attendees of the recently held African Magic Viewers Choice Awards has strongly been advised to go into self-isolation.
The 2020 edition of the African Magic Viewers Choice Awards was held on Sunday, March 14, 2020, and many Nigerians elite entertainers were present at the event.
On March 24, 2020, the Lagos State Government announced that all those present at the AMVCA should observe the isolation process required of anyone who has come in contact with a coronavirus infected person.
The statement was issued after the state Ministry of Health confirmed that an unidentified attendee at the movie award showpiece tested positive to the novel COVID-19 that causes the coronavirus – which means that all other attendees were likely exposed to the disease.
The statement reads:
#COVID19 Lagos Alert! I hereby notify you that all participants at the African Magic viewers’ Choice Award (AMVCA) held on14th March at @EkoHotels may have come in contact with one of the confirmed cases in Lagos and are most likely to have been exposed to #COVID19 Infection.

Since the announcement, star names like Banky W, Mercy Eke and Ebuka Obi-Uchenna have since taken to Twitter to note that they were already in self-isolation.

So far, Nigeria has over 40 confirmed cases of people who have tested positive for COVID-19.
