President Buhari will decide base on the recommendation of the committee whether the country will embark on a second phase of the easing of the lockdown following the shape increase in confirmed coronavirus cases in the country since movement restrictions was overturned back in April.
Plans to go ahead with the second phase now looks increasingly in doubt as a large section of the populous has willfully ignored the safety measures put in place by the government and health experts, leading to the spike in the number of coronavirus cases nationwide.
On Sunday, May 17, the Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) confirmed 338 new cases of the novel coronavirus in the country, bringing total cases to 5959.
