The lawmaker sees the high level of hate speech on the nation’s cyberspace as a risk to national security.
Nigerian singer Davido has hit out at former Nollywood actor-turned-politician, Desmond Elliot over his stance on the social media regulation bill that has caused much outrage amongst young people in the country.
The music star took to his Twitter page on Thursday, October 29, 2020, where he denounced his respect for the esteemed actor regarded as one of the finest to grace the industry.

The lawmaker representing Surulere constituency in the Lagos House of Assembly was recently accused of championing a motion to police the use of social media in the state.
Though he debunked the allegation of being one of those pushing for the bill, a video quickly emerged of Elliot seemingly blaming celebrities and influencers for promoting anarchy and hate speech on social media platforms.
In the video, Elliot warned Nigeria will cease to exist in the next five years if lawmakers do not step in to regulate the online community.

However, a lot of people feel disappointed in the lawmaker for not standing out from the corrupt politicians but have joined them to suppress the youth calling for an end to bad governance.
