Prominent American rapper and music mogul, Dr. Dre’s 24 years marriage with wife Nicole Young has come to the end of the road after she filed for divorce in a Los Angeles court on Monday.
TMZ reports Nicole, 50, as the partner calling the shots for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences as the lead cause of her decision to part ways with long-term husband Dre.
The couple’s marriage is also reported to have no preup, leaving Nicole with rights to claim portions of the rapper’s assets. Dre, 55, is worth an estimated $800 million and multiple sources say Nicole wants $400 million.
She is also demanding that the hip-hop veteran continues to show spousal support for their two adult children in the event of their split.
Dre and Nicole got married in 1996 and have two children named Triuce and Truly from their marriage.
Their divorce brings one of the longest marriage union in the American entertainment industry to a sad end.
