Duncan Mighty says he was arrested and assaulted by police officers who extorted $22,000 (N8m) from him.
On Saturday, December 14, 2019, an outcry on the Instagram page of celebrity barman Cubana Chiefprist alerted Nigerians to the unknown whereabouts of Duncan Mighty after he was reportedly abducted by unknown gunmen in Owerri, Imo state.
But in a later development, the Imo state police revealed the singer was not abducted but arrested and detained by the police over charges bordering on fraud offences. According to their statement, the singer breached a contract agreement he signed with the state government under the tenure of former governor, Rochas Okorocha.
Duncan Mighty was released after two day, and is now shedding more light on what transpired between him and the police while in their custody via a post on his Instagram page.
According to him, despite honouring a phone call from the Imo state government, they still went ahead to kidnap him. He went on to share videos of his meeting with former governor, Rochas Okorocha.
He wrote:
“IMO STATE GOVERNMENT AND DUNCAN MIGHTY FOR REAL LIFE AFTER HONORING YOUR PHONE CALL BUT U SAY KOROKORO KIDNAP NA FRAUD YET U DID NOT MENTION THE FIRST PLACE I WAS TAKING TO AND THE ANTI KIDNAPPING LED BY COMMANDER LINUS AND OLA I WAS ALSO TAKING TO AFTER ENOUGH BEATING COLLECTED PHYSICAL CASH 22k DOLLARS GIVEN TO ME BY CEO @kryxtal_penthouse WHOM GOD USED AS MY GUARDIAN ANGEL.
