Manchester United’s home kit has become the most expensive ever with the shirt, shorts and socks costing fans £183. The new kit which was launched just days after the World Cup.
The jersey, which alone costs £109, is made by Adidas and features a railway as a feature due to the club’s history with Newton Heath and 140 years of football success.
Despite the great look of the new kit, fans are also upset based on the fact that the new kit will be replaced by another next season.
One fan branded the new Manchester United ‘greedy’ and others complained teams thought their fans earned as much as footballers.
One fan said: “Inspired by the Railwaymen of Newton Heath” you couldn’t be further away from them if you tried.
‘Just a corporate money printing machine. Knocking these shirts out for about £70 despite having them made by kids in Indonesia for about 30p a shirt.’ he added
Manchester United are not the only clubs charging high prices for kits, the Puma Arsenal ‘EvoKNIT Authentic’ adult home shirt costs £100. While Manchester City offers a substantially cheaper top-end home shirt for adults, which still costs a £89.95.
