The life of a celebrity is not all rosy. But for most people, it’s difficult to understand this until they become one.
That is exactly the case for Big Brother Naija 2019 winner, Mercy Eke.
Recall that before the BBNaija reality show, Mercy was a relatively unknown personality in the entrainment industry and to the vast majority of the Nigerian population.
But after emerging winner of the competition, the 26-year old model and entrepreneur haven’t stopped garnering the benefits that come with the much fanfare and media publicity as a result of being in the spotlight.
Mercy has signed lucrative endorsement deals with lead brands, her social media platforms have experienced enormous growth and she has even appeared on the cover page of fashion magazine, Exquisite.
But her newfound fame and success comes with a price that has led to her complaining about her celebrity status and wishing to have her old life back.
While interacting with her fans on Instagram, Mercy revealed that waking up and having no plans is all she desires at the moment rather than showing up for all her planned engagements.
She wrote: This thing looks rosy on social media and it’s not rosy I think I want my old life back. I want to sleep wake up when I want, don’t have anything to do, don’t have a calendar. Right now I have a calendar. it sucks like I hate yea I prayed for it but its too much. People keep telling me it will reduce and it doesn’t. It keeps getting worse I don’t have a life of my own anymore…like I feel like I want my old life back.”
