Popular music mogul and businessman Emeka Okonkwo, who is widely known as E-Money, has been stripped of his security details by the Inspector-General of the Nigerian Police Force.

Nigeria Inspector-General of police, Mohammed Adamu, recently called for the immediate withdrawal of E-Money’s batch of police escort over alleged complaints about his mismanagement of the officers.

The news was made known by The Nation which reports that six police officers were relieved of their security service to the chairman of Five Star Group.

Emeka Okonkwo is the owner of the record label, 5 Star Music and brother to Nigerian music star, Kcee.

The Lagos state police command’s
spokesperson, Bala Elkana in a chat with blogger, Linda Ikeji confirmed the news of the withdrawal of the police escorts while noting that the matter is currently being looked into.

He is quoted to have said that “It is true that his escorts have been withdrawn and an investigation ongoing. I do not have much information on it.”

The decision was taken following numerous accusations that E-Money has reduced the police escorts to carrying out domestic errands and other unofficial duties like posing in photos as they opened the doors of his cars or holding his umbrella.

The Inspector-General is also said to have ordered a probe into his flamboyant lifestyle and the source of his money.

News of the withdrawal has since caused a lot of fuss on social media from Nigerians who flooded Twitter to debate about the responsibility of the men in black in the country.
