It is raining birthdays today!!!
From actress Jaiye Kuti to Josh2funny’s wife and now actor Deyemi Okanlawon’s son, it is the season of birthdays.
Taking to Instagram moments ago, the proud father noted how his son was getting closer to his level of handsomeness and dance skills.
Raining birthday blessings on him, Deyemi affirmed his undying love for him.
“Demide is 6….and getting closer to my level of handsomeness and dance skills! Love you kiddo!”.
Recall Deyemi Okanlawon had narrated the ordeal faced by him and his wife before they could welcome their first son.
The couple, who have two kids, struggled with fertility issues for three years and were even told to forget about having children.
In 2013, he won Best Actor in a Short Film at the In-Short film festival for his role as a psychotic husband in the thriller, Blink. He attended the Acting for Film course at the New York Film Academy in collaboration with Del-York.
In 2015, Deyemi founded Covenant Entertainment Services, a production and talent management firm and soon became a consultant to Silverbird Film Distribution. In 2019 he took up the position of marketing manager at Silverbird Distribution, rose to head Nollywood and Independent movie distribution and thereafter took over the management of the operations of the company as acting CEO.
In 2022, he received his first-ever nomination at the Africa Magic Viewers’Choice Awards for Best Actor in a Comedy for his role in “Omo Ghetto: The Saga
However, Deyemi Okanlawon didn’t take that as the final say as he assured his wife that they would have their own children.
He narrated this in celebration of his first son’s birthday.
He wrote:
“After 3 yrs of trying and then finally being told we couldn’t conceive, your mum came home crying. I held her close and let her cry then, when she was done, I tilted up her face, looked her straight in the eyes and told her, “That’s not what God told me! We will have our own children!”.
“On this day, 10th July, 4 years ago, I woke up to the cry of a child my heart swelled with love and pride… and I understood for the first time the hearts of both my heavenly and earthly fathers towards me! Happy 4th Birthday Demide… I’m super proud to call you son. Luv, DeyemiTheDaddy p.s. @damilolaokanlawon see how I fulfilled my promise of giving you beautiful sons”.
