Popular American rapper Kanye West has revealed his intention to run for the office of the United States President in the forthcoming general election scheduled for November 2020.

Kanye West has come out to announce his interest in vying for the highest office in US politics, a move he says is aimed at ‘unifying the nation’s vision and building its future’.

The music star made the bold public declaration in a post via his Twitter page on Saturday, July 4, 2020.

“We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running for president of the United States,” West tweeted, adding an American flag emoji and the hashtag “#2020VISION”.

It is worth noting that Kanye face an almost impossible task of contesting for president given the timing of his announcement. The Ye crooner has missed nearly all state primaries and is also in a race against time to file official paperwork that enables political candidates to appear on state election ballots.

The United States Presidential election is scheduled to take place in four months time. Though the deadline to add independent candidates to the ballot has not yet passed in many states.

Kanye face an almost impossible task of contesting for president given the timing of his announcement.

If Kanye ends up on the ballot, he will be challenging Donald Trump who is seeking re-election and former vice president Joe Biden, the presumptive Democratic nominee, who is also in the race to The White House.
