Former African Footballer of the Year Emmanuel Amuneke has described Victor Osimhen’s signing by Italian Serie A side, AS Napoli as exciting news for Nigerian football.
“I’m excited and very happy that Victor has finally signed for Napoli, and this is remarkable particularly at this challenging times,” the former Barcelona winger told Reporters. “Of course, I’m happy with the progress being made by the boys we picked in 2015 for the Golden Eaglets; you talk about Samuel Chukwueze in Villarreal; Kelechi Nwakali recently gained promotion to La Liga with Huelva and there are others in other clubs in Europe too.

Legendary Italian central defender and one-time Ballon d’Or winner Fabio Cannavaro has given his thoughts on the recent signing of young Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen by Napoli.
Cannavaro, who captained the Italy national team to win the 2006 World Cup, was delighted that his former international teammate turned Coach Gennaro Gattuso was able to sign Osimhen after protracted negotiations.

NAPOLI CHIEF DE LAURENTIIS: Osimhen Is a 30-Goal Striker
Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis says the club’s new signing Victor Osimhen is a ’30-Goal striker. Osimhen officially joined the Partenopei on Friday from French Ligue 1 club Lille on a five-year contract. De Laurentiis is delighted that the SerieA club was able to sign their preferred striker and has said, “It is certainly a costly investment, but he is a strong striker who our sports director [Cristiano] Giuntoli advocated, “He is a 30-goal striker. “I met him and he made an excellent impression on me, I hope he quickly settles in our championship.”

Conflicting reports on Osimhen Transfer Fee
The striker Victor Osimhen joins Napoli in an African record reported fee of £74m; this makes him the most expensive African footballer currently.
The Player’s signing announcement was on Friday in Naples, after long negotiations between the player, the Serie A club and his former employers.
Osimhen signed a five-year contract with the Serie A sides after an impressive season in France.
“Welcome, Victor!” Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis tweeted before the club confirmed the signing via their social media platform as Lille also took to twitter to confirmed his departure from them, “We’d like to extend our heartfelt thanks to @victorosimhen9 and wish this Super Eagle Flag of Nigeria the very best of #LOSC luck in his new adventure with @en_sscnapoli,“. Osimhen responded likewise on “Can’t wait to put on this iconic jersey, thank you for the warm welcome”.
