Stella Maris, the wife of Nollywood actor Mr Ibu, allegedly ordered the arrest of his adopted daughter Jasmine and two sons.

Nollywood actress Doris Ogala has made a shocking announcement that the sons of Jasmine and Ibu were arrested and detained at Alagbon Police Station. They were allegedly caught moving N300 million from the actor’s account, which was donated by Nigerians and fans.

On November 6, 2023, ailing Nollywood veteran John Okafor, A.k.a Mr Ibu, underwent seven surgeries in a hospital in Lagos. Even worse, the comic actor had one of his legs amputated to increase his chances of survival. Sadly, while the 62-year-old actor is fighting hard for his life, his wife, Stella Maris Okafor and his adopted daughter, Jasmine, have been fighting dirty over funds donated by well-meaning Nigerians across the globe.

According to leaked reports, Mr Ibu’s wife claims that Jasmine has taken total control of the donations account, leaving her in the dark and making up lies against her to vilify her publicly, all because she questioned her about the funds donated.

And just like that, the housewife and the adopted daughter conflict has resulted in a shameful cat and dog fight on social media, with both parties airing their dirty laundry in public and competing with each other.

VeryDarkman, who got involved in the matter and solicited funds for the ailing actor, has called for Nigerians to stop sending money. This happened while fans decided who they should support between the real Okafor and the adopted Okafor.

Another set of people are worried that Mr Ibu’s illness might not have killed him. The drama between the two women he loves so dearly might eventually be the stress that ends him if care is not taken. Is Mr Ibu‘s wife and adopted daughter exposing their greediness and going too far?

n September of 2023, celebrated Nollywood actor John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, commemorated his 40 years on screen with many colleagues and well-wishers joining him to mark the occasion. The comic actor, who has been blessing Africans with laughter and entertainment since 1983, popped bottles with the likes of Sir Shina Peters, Yul Edochie, Osita Iheme, Zack Orji, Benedict Johnson, Victor Osuagwu and a host of others at the prestigious Blake Resort Restaurant and Lounge, Garki, Abuja. Unfortunately, the health of the 62-year-old actor took a bad hit shortly after the event. Taking fans entirely by surprise, the star actor, on October 18 2023, released a heartbreaking video on his official Instagram page soliciting financial aid for a medical condition. According to Mr Ibu, the doctors had informed him of the possibility of getting one of his legs amputated if he failed to raise the funds for surgery in record time.

For those following the actor, this is not the first he will be in a dire medical condition. Mr Ibu’s adopted daughter, Jasmine, first drew attention to the actor’s health in March of 2022 after he ended up in hospital. Speaking about his illness, the award-winning actor revealed that he was poisoned at an event in his home town, and since then, he has been struggling with his health.

Over the past months, the actor has been in and out of the hospital, doling millions of Naira for therapeutic care. Hence, when he made a cry for help in October of this year, many people, including Kanayo O Kanayo, Davido, Tunde Ednut, Paul Okoye of Psquare and others rallied around to support the actor, with kind words and monetary donations.

The Abubakar Bukola Saraki Foundation, owned by the former senate president of Nigeria, also paid off Mr Ibu’s outstanding medical expenses. Sadly, all this support was insufficient to save the actor’s leg. On November 6 2023, his management announced that one of his legs had been amputated after undergoing seven successful surgeries.

Unfortunately, while the cinematic icon was fighting for his dear life, hanging by a thin thread, his adopted daughter, Jasmine and his wife, Stella Maris Okafor, also known as the Real Iburess, have been fighting dirty behind social media curtains over the monetary donations received on his behalf.
