Nigeria’s First Lady, Aisha Buhari accuses close family of President Muhammadu Buhari of issuing a presidential directive behind her husband back. In a statement the first lady signed and also published social media, she specifically accused Mamman Daura of issuing a directive to a presidential spokesperson, Garba Shehu, not to recognise her office as a first lady.
During Mr Buhari’s first term in office in 2015, the presidency repeatedly referred to Mrs Buhari as the ‘wife of the president.’ stating that he would allow an office for the first lady.
However, after the re-election of the family in early 2019, Mrs Buhari released a statement revealing she wants to be referred to as the First Lady and demanded an Office of the First Lady’, to carry out her activities.
After the statement, the presidency began to refer to Mrs Buhari as the First Lady and President Buhari also assigned official aides to her office. On Wednesday, however, Mrs Buhari accused Mr Daura and Mr Shehu of undermining her office. In a lengthy press release, she cried out for help letting Nigerians in on what is going on.
But it seems like Nigerians are turning deaf ears, mostly after she supported the anti-social media bill the government is trying to impose on Nigerians.
After posting the release on Twitter, the majority of Nigerian are reacting hilariously, with most telling her to sort her family problem.
