Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has been re-arraigned at a federal high court in Abuja on terrorism charges.
The federal government recently amended the charges against him raising them to seven counts as against the five counts he was previously answering to, bordering on treasonable felony and terrorism.
After a security operative reportedly sneaked him into the court on Thursday, October 21st morning, the office of the attorney general of the federation kickstarted the case at 10 am.
So what are these new fresh charges against Nnamdi Kanu?
- Nigerian Government said Kanu allegedly use radio broadcasts from London to separate southeast, south south and some parts of Kogi and Benue state from Nigeria to form Biafra land.
- Nigerian Government said Kanu allegedly use his radio broadcast from London to abuse Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari and called him a “paedophile, a terrorist, an idiot and an embodiment of evil.”
- Nigerian Government said Kanu allegedly import a Radio transmitter called TRAM 50L and hide it inside a container to Ihiala, Anambra state.
- The Nigerian government said Kanu allegedly declared himself as head of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) group which was banned by the Nigerian governemnt.
- The Nigerian Government said Kanu allegedly commit terrorism when he use his radio broadcast from London to encourage members of IPOB to attach Nigerian security operatives and their families.
- Nigerian Government said Kanu allegedly commit terrorism when he boast that things will happen and people will die
- And finally, the Nigerian Government said Kanu allegedly use Radio broadcast from London to commit act of terrorism when he declared Sit-at-home and threatened death on people who disobeyed the order.
When these new charges were read to Nnamdi Kanu, the IPOB leader pleaded ‘not guilty’ and the case was adjourned to November 10th 2021.
