American renowned media personality Oprah Winfrey has debunked rumors claiming she was heavily involved in Prince Henry and Megan Markle’s decision to step back as senior members of the royal family.
Winfrey made this known in a Q&A session with PEOPLE. The TV queen instated that she cares about Harry and Megan, but added that they didn’t need her help figuring out what’s best for their family.
“Megan and Harry do not need my help figuring out what’s best for them. I care about both and support whatever decisions they make for their family,” she said.
Rumors of her involvement intensified on Tuesday after an article published on PageSix claimed that prior to announcing their withdrawal from the royal family, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex sought advice from most of their influential friends in America, with the Obamas, Serena Williams, George and Amal Clooney mentioned as such friends.
The article also added that Oprah Winfrey was the first the couple contacted, and her advice was for them to make the move to America and build their brand.
It comes barely 48 hours after Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex and Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, announced their decision to step back’ as senior members of the royal family.
The couple broke the shocking news via a statement on their Sussex Royal Instagram page on Wednesday, December 8, 2020, where they cited ‘ family priority’ and ‘financial independence’ as the determining factor in their decision to step back.
